Ever hear the saying the “cobbler’s children have no shoes”? Serena and I have embraced that the last few years. We have designed, written and prepared portfolio samples—and then redesigned, rewritten and selected new portfolio samples three times since we started the site years ago. Never quite getting the project done for lack of time because our efforts have focused on creating the perfect “shoes” for each client, instead of ourselves.

In addition to not having time to craft our own shoes, the pressure has been immense to design the best shoes. As an example of our craft, the site itself and not just its contents, is a representation of who we are and what we’re capable of doing. The process is agonizing in a more personal way than most business endeavors.

The one detail we lost sight of is that Web sites are different from shoes in a very important—liberating—way. We can add to, delete, change, redesign, rewrite over and over without taking the shoes off our feet.

We are finally launching (with little fanfare) www.red-lime.com for all to see. Let us know what you think.

~Jennifer

Practice what you preach!

We often advise our clients to reinvent their brand, improve upon on their established identities, so after 10+ years with our same logo, it was time for us to “Practice what we preach!”

We have a great name, we never tire of its possibilities, but it was perfect timing for a new logo. We decided that with the launch of our Web site, why not promote a new look? So many of our clients have worked with us since we started, we wanted to introduce a new, fresh look.

We added a small mark to our logo—a slice of lime (of course). We’ve also added an additional tag “creative studio with a twist”. We aren’t removing “Design with Creative Juice”, we’re just adding additional language to better define who we are to those who need to know! We are often asked if we are an agency–we aren’t a big agency with all that implies–we are a virtual studio, with designers attacking your projects’ objectives with all our creative juices! Our resources are those of an agency, but our approach is personal and vested.

So it’s as simple as it sounds, we practiced what we preach, gave it a new look and are having fun sharing it with you! Let us know what you think—remember design and redesign never ends.
